SANTOS PRESIDENT RESPONDS TO RUMOURS

"Neymar stays in Brazil until 2014"

Santos president Luis Álvaro de Oliveira assured that he has Neymar's word that he intends to stay at the Brazilian club until 2014, when the country will host the World Cup.
"Neymar has said recently that he wants to stay here, at least until 2014. May I remind you that Neymar, like his father, is a man of his word? And he's given me his word that he will remain at Santos until 2014", he stated.
He trusts that the "vibrant development" which Brazil and Santos are undergoing will not force him to sell him before then. "Things have taken a turn. We can confirm that our financial situation is strong enough to keep Neymar for longer. We don't need to sell him", he explained.
"A day will come when he wants to go to Europe and that will be his decision. We have a signed contract and Neymar stays at Santos. When his contract ends in 2014, he can go to Europe – to Barça or Real Madrid or another great club – or stay at Santos", he said.
In this regard, he assured that he will fight "time and again" for Neymar to stay in Brazil and be the new Pelé, who always remained loyal to Santos. "As a friend of Neymar's, I would like him to stay with us for many years to come, as happened with Pelé", he said.
